Marriage visa
The bride / groom visa is intended for persons who intend to marry a British citizen, but who reside in another country. The visa is issued for a maximum of 6 months, during which time the parties must formalize the marriage in the UK.
Travelers on this visa are not allowed to work in the UK.
One of the prerequisites: future spouses must prove that they have met before and know each other well, as well as demonstrate their intention to live together permanently after marriage.
The applicant must prove that he or she speaks English at a level not lower than A1 under the common European CEFR scheme. Before applying for a visa, the applicant must pass a language test from the list approved by the UK Border Agency.
As for the minor children of the Fiance visa applicant, they may come to the UK as dependents.
After marriage, you can apply for a spousal visa without leaving the UK.
Spousal visa
After marriage, the spouse or partner of a UK citizen or perpetual resident or an EU, Swiss, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein citizen who lives in the UK before 1 January 2021 must apply for a Spouse visa
For applicants from abroad, a visa is issued for 33 months, for applicants from the UK - for 30 months. In the future, this visa is extended for another 30 months.
The Spouse visa allows you to live and work in the UK without restrictions during the entire period of its validity. A Spouse visa holder can apply for a permanent UK residence (Indefinite Leave to Remain), provided that the spouses have lived in the UK for five years, the marriage is not dissolved, and the applicant is going to settle in the UK permanently.
Spouse visa requirements
• Both spouses must be at least 18 years old;
• Spouses must know each other and meet earlier;
• Marriage or partnerships must be officially registered and recognized in the UK;
• One of the spouses / partners must be domiciled in the UK;
• Both spouses / partners must intend to live together permanently;
• Both spouses / partners should be able to fully provide themselves and their dependents with material and housing (rented or their own) without seeking help from government funds;
• The sponsoring spouse / partner must meet the minimum income requirements;
• Applicant must have at least an A1 level of proficiency in the Common European Framework of Reference for Europe (CEFR).
If the prospective spouse is in the UK on any visa valid for more than 6 months (excluding visitor visas), then he (s) can marry or register a relationship with a British citizen without switching to a Fiance visa. After marriage, the spouse switches to a Spouse visa, without leaving the UK, and acquires all the rights that are due to an immigrant on this visa.
Civil partners of persons present and resident in the UK
An applicant who has had a close relationship with a UK resident for two years is granted permission to reunite or accompany his partner in the UK.
